About Avily

An experience rooted in the belief that time abroad transforms us.

I’ve always believed in the power of meaningful experiences in new cultures. I studied languages, lived with host families in Spain and Guatemala, designed intercultural programs for college students studying abroad, and trained expats preparing for life overseas. For years, my work centered on helping people grow through intentionally crafted experiences.

Later, as a learning strategist, I’ve spent my career designing programs that help adults connect, reflect, and learn in deep, human ways. Experience design became my craft — creating moments and structures that help people feel grounded, supported, and open to transformation.

And then I became a mom.

My love for travel didn’t disappear, but the logistics of extended travel with young children felt daunting. Still, in 2021 — with a four-year-old, a two-year-old, and a full-time remote job — I took a leap and planned a five-week stay in Sevilla, Spain.

It wasn’t simple, but it was worth it. And every time someone asked, “How did you make that work?” I kept wishing there were an easier way for families to do what we had done.

So I created one.

Avily is the warm, thoughtfully designed, boutique way for families to live abroad without the overwhelm of planning it alone.

My Philosophy

New places shift perspective.
Time together resets us.
Shared adventure brings families closer.

A five-week sabbatical gives families the space to slow down, reconnect, and let a new place shape them in small but lasting ways. The kind of learning and growth that happens naturally through culture, pace, and everyday life.

What I Believe

  • Extended travel should feel beautiful, warm, and supported

  • Families deserve meaningful time together

  • Kids thrive in hands-on, real-world learning

  • Immersion doesn’t require long-term relocation, just intention

  • Boutique hospitality belongs in family travel

  • Community makes experiences richer

  • Blending work and travel is possible with the right support

  • The smallest moments abroad often become the stories families remember most

Why I Created Avily

To make living abroad feel possible for modern families who crave deeper travel.
To remove the overwhelm of planning.
To create something warm, curated, and human — where parents feel supported and kids feel delighted.
To design an experience grounded in rhythm, meaning, and ease.

And ultimately, to give more parents the feeling I had in Sevilla:

“We can actually do this — and it’s worth it.”
